Historic Downtown Wauseon

Welcome to Wauseon, Ohio! This adventure will take you through 10 locations in historic downtown Wauseon, Ohio. The city was first platted in 1853 when the Michigan Southern Air Railway was extended to that point. Originally named "Litchfield" after Litchfield, NY, the new village was renamed after an Ottawa Tribe Chief named Wauseon. The village was then incorporated in 1859. As the railroad brought more commercial success to Wauseon, it soon became larger than the county seat of Fulton County (Ottokee), and was named the county seat in 1869. Wauseon has been home to Midwest Geobash since 2009. We hope you enjoy your tour around the city!
