Sustainable Sites at Stony Brook University

Founded in 1957, Stony Brook University is a SUNY System R1 University that is well respected for its research activity, especially on environmental sustainability. This SBU School of Marine & Atmospheric Sciences Adventure Lab explores some of SBU's sustainable efforts. You will visit 5 sustainable site locations on campus. You must answer a question at each location. Additional SBU sustainability efforts can be seen outdoors (a composting center, recycling units, and honeybee hives for pollination) and indoors (sensory lights, energy saving measures, and water bottle refill stations). For more information visit https://www.stonybrook.edu/sustainability. The GPS coordinates to a physical SBU Sustainable Sites Bonus Geocache (GC8WTM9) are in the journal presented after completion of this Adventure Lab. The Lab was developed by Donna Selch, PhD, Professor, and created with help from Geocachers of Long Island (GoLI). To learn more about geocaching visit geocachersofli.org and geocaching.com.
