There's a lot of history in this small town of Springfield, VT. Springfield was chartered in 1761 and is well known for its development into a mill town. Located along the Black River, companies used the waterfalls to power machines. Springfield was key in the production of machine tools during WWII, and because of this, Springfield was placed as the 7th most important bombing target in the U.S. This great town isn’t just known for its machine tool history, Springfield is home to waterfalls, historic buildings, Vermont’s oldest one-room schoolhouse, and was awarded Home of the Simpsons in 2007.
