Welcome to the Newark Earthworks Odyssey! Growing up in Newark, I was aware of the earthworks here, but as children were never educated about just how fortunate we were to reside near this wonderful history. The Newark Earthworks are world-class ancient structures. The complex contains the world's largest earthen, geometric enclosures. The site is designated as the state of Ohio's Official Prehistoric Monument. It is also a National Historic Landmark and is on a shortlist for becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Adventure Lab will take you to the three remaining portions of the complex and explore the grandeur of these awe-inspiring locations. You will be walking and driving.
