John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail: Part 7

From July 13 - 26, 1863, Morgan led a group of more than 2,000 men across Southern Ohio. His mission: to distract and divert as many Union troops as possible from the action in Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee. Union forces under the command of Major General Ambrose Burnside gave chase. This adventure lab is part 7 of a 8 part series that follows the John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail. This section will take you from Old Washington to Smithfield. This lab can be completed in any order, but is best done in numerical order to avoid backtracking and to allow you to follow the official road signs. This trail should be completed during daylight hours as several of the stops will take you to historic cemeteries. Take care while completing this trail, as many of the stops are along the side of the road. The entire John Hunt Morgan Heritage Trail series can be completed in any order, but is most easily done heading west to east.
