Brick Pond Wetland Preserve

Wetlands are one of the most diverse types of ecosystems in the world, filled with a variety of plant and animal life. Brick Pond was created when the Susquehanna River changed course, leaving the land permanently flooded with water. The name of this area refers back to the 1800s, when clay from the pond was used to create bricks. Today Brick Pond is part of the Waterman Conservation Education Center and is considered one of the best birding sites in New York state. This lab will follow the yellow Pond Loop trail, which is .9 miles long. Each stop will bring you to an informational plaque along the trail that features a bird residing at Brick Pond. Parking is available at: N 42° 06.437 W 76° 14.745
