Columbia, Maryland: The First 5 Villages

Welcome to Columbia, MD! Founded June 21, 1967, the city was the brainchild of James W. Rouse, a businessman and real estate developer. It’s a planned community once called the “Next America;” a blend of city and country living meant to prevent problems found in major cities and suburbs. In 2016 it was named #1 small city to live in by Money Magazine; in 2017 it celebrated its 50th anniversary. Columbia has 10 villages, each consisting of several neighborhoods with names influenced by poetry, literature, history and art. Each village has its own unique features. This Adventure will take you to the first 5 villages in Columbia where you will learn a bit about each village, and see a unique location of each. Complete the Adventure by driving or cycling. Ideally locations would be completed in village order, but this is simply a suggestion. Depending on how much you explore, it could take 2 hrs. or even be multi-day. At each location, collect codes that can lead you to a bonus mystery cache (GC8Y2QB)!
