Chipping Campden is a picturesque little town (village) in the heart of theCotswolds . The town has many beautiful buildings, showing off a range of architectural styles. The name Chipping comes from the old English "ceping", meaning market place . Chipping Camden was one of the most important medieval wool towns , famous throughout Europe, and it was from this that it accumulated much of its wealth. As with many of the villages and towns in the Cotswolds the building of chipping campden are made from a very popular building stone, ( Cotswold stone ) which is an Oolitic limestone that is sourced from one of the many quarries nearby.
