EN: The Margaret Island is a 2.5 km long island in the middle of the Danube in Budapest. The island is covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious center. The island was called Insula leporum (Island of Rabbits) before being named after Saint Margaret (1242–1270) in the 14th century. Margaret was the daughter of King Béla IV of Hungary, and she lived in the Dominican convent on the island. HU: A Margit-sziget egy kb. 2,5 km hosszú sziget a Duna közepén Budapesten. Az egész sziget tulajdonképpen egy hatalmas, közkedvelt park középkori szakrális építészeti emlékekkel, szoborsétányokkal, kisebb tavakkal, szökőkúttal és állatkerttel. A szigetet Insula leporumnak (Nyulak szigetének) hívták, mielőtt a 14. században Szent Margitról (1242–1270) elnevezték volna. Margit IV. Béla királyunk lánya volt, és a sziget domonkosrendi kolostorában élt.
