The Arboretum: Celebrating 50 Years

The Arboretum encompasses 400 acres adjacent to campus featuring plant collections, gardens, walking trails, natural woodlands, wetlands, and meadows. Established in 1970, The Arboretum is home to more than 2000 different taxa of woody plants, in thematic collections such as a synoptic World of Trees, Native Trees of Ontario, and noteworthy collections of Oaks, Beeches, Maples, and Conifers. The starting point for this Adventure Lab is the parking lot adjacent to the Arboretum Centre (N43°32.493 W080°12.886). As you visit the various stages, be sure to collect the letters found in each journal entry. These can be used to find the final coordinates for the bonus hide (GC9JZ0P). Information and historical photos were taken from The Arboretum website and special 50th anniversary ‘Roots & Branches: Our History Website’. Thank you to the Arboretum staff and interns for helping to develop this AL. https://www.arbhistory.uoguelph.ca/
