Ashland Cemetery Adventure Lab

Welcome! Ashland Cemetery was created from land originally owned by Alanson Andrews and was purchased at a price of $819.50. The cemetery was founded in 1856 and dedicated in 1857. Lots were available for $10. The old wooden arch that initially covered the entrance was replaced in 1904 with Indiana limestone at a cost of $815, which is still in place today. The sexton's home still stands on the left as you enter on West Main Street. This house was built in 1890 at a cost of $1,235. This tour will take you to five sites on the grounds. In your trek, you are likely to encounter a lot of wildlife such as bluebirds, hawks, and squirrels. There is also a family of 5-6 deer that hang around in this area of the cemetery. As always with any cemetery, this Adventure Lab should only be completed during daylight hours, and if a service is taking place near any of the stops, please be respectful and save it for another time. Coordinates to each stage are listed on the individual description pages.
