Welcome to Sinaia, a town secluded in the Prahova Valley, at the south-eastern foot of the Bucegi Mountais which act as a ”shield” to the settlement, dominating it with 1000m steeps and peaks rising above 2000m of altitude. This place is considered one of the most beautiful mountain resorts in the country and has significant cultural and historical importance, given the fact that it served as residence to the Romanian Royal Family.
Sinaia gets its name from the 17th Century Sinaia Monastery, which precedes the settlement. It only got more notoriety during the second half of the 19th century, when King Carol I had the Peleș Castle built in the thick Carpathian Forest, followed by the high class individuals that also decided to build their luxurious residences in the area, whom, in turn, were followed by businessmen that opened restaurants and hotels, turning it into the resort that we know today.
Our adventure starts at the Train Station, which is, most probably, your entry point into Sinaia.
