Welcome to Bellevue, Nebraska

Bellevue is the oldest town in Nebraska, and the oldest town west of the Missouri river. It is known for being the historical home to Strategic Air Command and, today, US Strategic Command. Originally settled by European Americans in the 1830s, Bellevue was incorporated in 1855. No one living knows just when the first white men settled at Bellevue. The story has many times been told how Manuel Lisa climbed the sloping hills from the riverside where his boat lay moored and as his eye swept that wonderful panorama of forest, hill and river he exclaimed in French, "Bellevue;" that he then staked out his fur trader's cabin in the valley below and thus began the first white settlement in our state. This was in the year 1810, so the story goes. This Adventure Lab will take you to a few of Bellevue's historic and interesting sites. All locations are easily accessible and will require a code word.
