Indtil 1902 var vægterne ordensmagt, de havde til opgave at vække folk ved brand og stormflod, samt synge timeversene, så folk kunne høre, hvad klokken var. I 1935 blev traditionen genoptaget som led i turistarbejdet. I dag er der 6 vægtere, som på skift tager publikum med rundt i Ribe og fortæller stort og småt om Ribes historie. Vi har selv været på 3 helt forskellige ture, og vil nu vise jer 5 udvalgte steder. Until 1902 the watchmen were forces of law, tasken with waking people by fire and storm surfe, as well as singing hourly verses so people could hear what time it was. In 1935, the tradition was resumed as a part of the tourism work. Today there are 6 watchmen, who takes the audience around Ribe telling big and small about Ribe’s story.
