Tulsa Art Deco

It was the Roaring 20s, the Jazz Age and Tulsa was experiencing a population boom thanks to the influx of oil. Skyscrapers of many architectural styles blossomed over Downtown Tulsa. There were Gothic, Art Deco(AD) and a mixture of both. One of the most in vogue at the time was Art Deco, the Philcade Tower to the Boston Ave Methodist Church, began to dominate the skyline of downtown Tulsa & still do today. Three styles of AD can be found around Tulsa: zigzag, WPA and Streamline. Information for this tour was obtained from, Tulsapreservation.com, the book Tulsa Art Deco by the Junior League and William Franklin of the DECOPOLIS. We would like to thank him for his knowledge. This tour will take you to 5 stops the first two can be driven and the remainder are walkable. If you like walking tours, you can find maps at the DECOPOLIS Museum and Gift Shop or online. We hope you enjoy this tour, it can be seen night or day. Thank you for visiting our Lab Cache.
