Welcome to Tennessee! Take a few minutes to stretch your legs as you explore this popular rest area through an Adventure Lab. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Smith County Welcome Center on Interstate 40, between Nashville and Knoxville, serves both east & west bound traffic. Many maps do not route here correctly, so trust the signs and make your way to the rest area. In addition to the expected amenities, the most-visited welcome center in Tennessee features a paved walking trail, historic cemetery, an award winning art installation, historical markers and a log cabin with rocking chairs around the fireplace. All stages of the Lab are in publicly accessible locations within the rest area, but be sure to watch your step as you cross to the cemetery and dog walking area. The five locations should take you less than half an hour to visit and give you the opportunity to hit the road refreshed from your walk.
