Strolling through history

Take a saunter through more than 350 years of history. This area was explored by Ralph Lane from the Roanoke Island colony beginning in 1586, with the City being founded and incorporated as Redding in 1793, renamed Elizabethtown in 1794 and finally Elizabeth City in 1801, the latter two probably derived from Elizabeth, wife of Adam Tooley, the original landholder. As a U.S. port of entry, it ships local products and has lumberyards, shipyards, textile mills, and diversified industries. If you enjoy this Adventure Lab, there are six detailed, self-guided historical tours you can enjoy as well. Brochures for each are available at the Information Kiosk (36°17.825'N 76°13.123'W) which is across the street from the Wright Brothers stage. You can do the Lab stages in any order, ending up with a nice 1 mile circuit. Partial coordinates for Bonus Cache GC8NRTE are given after each correct challenge answer. Note that you will have to return to the Journal after the last stage is completed. Have fun!
