Exploring Portage la Praire's Roadside Attractions

COME TO PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE… GAZE… WONDER… IMAGINE… BECOME ENRICHED BY 5 OF PORTAGE'S ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS! *BONUS CACHE GC8MNWN IS AVAILABLE*. The area was first inhabited by Indigenous peoples prior to the European settlers arrival in 1850. In September 1738 Pierre Gaultier built Fort La Reine, north of the Assiniboine River, to serve as a fur trading post and operating base for explorers. The name is derived from the French word portage, which means to carry a canoe overland between waterways; the "portage" being between the Assiniboine River and Lake Manitoba, over la prairie. The city became a major transportation center due to its proximity to the river, and later, the location of the main lines of both the CPR and CNR passing through Portage; one of the few places in Canada where the two railways meet. You will need to find these lab caches in a specific order. Bonus mystery cache GC8MNWN is nearby, so ensure you collect the codes at each of the 5 Lab caches locations to solve the coordinates.
