In 1980, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal described Knoxville as a “scruffy little city.” The city rose above the scurrilous remark, taking pride in its scruffiness. This series of Adventure Lab Caches takes you on a tour of the downtown area and treats you to some of the more interesting, arcane, and downright weird aspects of living in Knoxville. All caches are within walking distance of downtown, though some people might prefer to use their cars. Metered parking is available on many downtown streets, plus there are public parking lots and garages available. Parking in city-owned parking garages is free after 6 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends. If you want to hike the entire route, the Market Square, Langley, and Locust Street garages are centrally located. It's about a 5 mile round trip. At each of the five Adventure Lab locations, you will receive a clue to the location of the Keep Knoxville Scruffy Mystery Cache (GC8J8XR).
