Tour of Historic New Harmony

Welcome to historic New Harmony! New Harmony was established in 1814 under the leadership of George Rapp. The town was originally known as Harmony. In its early years, the settlement was the home of Lutherans who had immigrated to the United States. In 1824 they decided to sell their property and return to Pennsylvania. Robert Owen, a Welsh industrialist and social reformer, purchased the town in 1825 with the intention of creating a new utopian community and renamed it New Harmony. While the Owenite social experiment failed two years after it began, the community made some important contributions to American society. Today we will visit 5 places of interest: • The Labyrinth State Memorial • The Atheneum • A Healing Palindrome • Paul Tillich Park • The Roofless Church At one of the stages, you will get the coordinates to a Bonus Cache - GC8QW18 Enjoy your tour!
