Dublin Castle:On this site kings & queens held court, Irish Presidents have been sworn in and old orders have been swept away through rebellion & revolution. There is evidence of a ring fort here as early as the 6th century, a Viking fortress (930), then a stone castle built by King John of England (1204). The Castle served as the seat of British rule in Ireland, from 1204 until officially handed over to Michael Collins, Irish Govt, for the people of Ireland in Jan 1922. City Hall: Built as the Royal Exchange, between 1769 and 1779 to the designs of architect Thomas Cooley and is a notable example of 18th-century architecture.
