Step back to the 1760’s in Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg was the second capital of Virginia (1699-1780) and is now a historical landmark and a living history museum. It was originally the village of Middle Plantation (1632). Surviving colonial structures have been restored to their 18th-century appearance. Many add’l colonial structures were reconstructed on their original sites, beginning in the 1930s. Today, Colonial W’burg is the world’s largest living history museum. For free, you can walk the town, purchase from stores and restaurants, interact with costumed actors who are wandering the streets, and watch any programs taking place in the public areas -- such as the noon gun and the evening musical program on the courthouse lawn. With a ticket/annual pass you can enter the buildings for live interpretation/tours, listen to historical lectures, and more. This AL is a walking tour of the free areas of CW and can be done in an hour. It is a 1/2 mile walk from the Visitor Center to the city. It is 0.6-0.8 mi walk to complete.
