Welcome to Athens, Alabama. Athens Alabama is midway between Nashville and Birmingham on Interstate 65 and comprises about 39 Square miles within Limestone County. Athens was incorporated in 1818 before the state was admitted to the union. Athens is steeped in history, especially civil war era history. The All Around Athens Adventure Lab will take you to five prominent locations in or near the downtown area, but you are invited to seek out additional locations. The locations can be done in any order. However, I suggest going to the Gulf Station Museum last. This adventure lab can be walked, driven, or a mix of both. The adventure should take less than an hour; but please take your time and enjoy your visit. See journal entries for each completed location to obtain clues to a bonus physical cache GC8v9p4.
