Den tilsandede Kirke

The sanded church is located in a plantation area approx. 4 km southwest of The center of Skagen. The church was probably built in the late 14th century and was at that time the largest in Vendsyssel. At the beginning of the sand drift, around the year 1600, it became difficult for people to dig their way to the church. In the year 1795, King Christian the 7th abolished the church and parts of the church were torn down and used in others construction projects. The church tower was spared and used as a beacon. Today the tower is protected and the place is very visited by tourists. The trip is approx. 2 km long and must be taken in order. P-coordinate can be found in the associated bonus "Bonus AL Den tilsandede Kirke", where you also can get information about the degree of difficulty, attributes etc.
