Brown's Junction Adventure Lab

Did you know the town of Elbe used to be called "Brown's Junction"? In 1888 the first settlers came to the forests on the Nisqually River and they stayed! Around 1892, a post office requested a shorter name for the town. The locals decided to honor the early settlers who had come from the valley of Elbe in Germany. In 1904, the town of Elbe was connected to the "Tacoma Eastern Railroad" rail network and the number of tourists increased rapidly. A large hotel and several restaurants were built. The local co-founder Adam Sachs opened a department store. Two years later, the villagers built a church. In 1909 Elbe had 250 inhabitants and in the course of the 20th century the population rose to 437. In 2018, the population of Elbe was 54. This adventure lab will take you on a brief tour of some of the highlights of the small town. I hope you enjoy your adventures!
