Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve is an area of sand dunes, mudflats & beach at the mouth of the river Exe.
It is an SSSI, SAC, key part of the Exe Estuary Special Protection Area & a Wetland of International Importance, as well as a holiday resort enjoyed by 500,000 people a year.
Access is available all year round but please observe signs to avoid causing disturbance to wildlife at varying times. As certain areas are inaccessible at high tide or with dogs, and some of the paths through the dunes have been eroded by recent storms, we have restricted this AdLab to the nearer part of the reserve only, but the other end is well worth exploring. You can even land at the far end by water taxi from Exmouth in season.
There is a train station nearby & coords are for a large paying car park & the resort entrance with toilets, pub, takeaway & shops and an all-ability route to the first 3 waypoints. There are no toilets at the visitor centre.
You will need more than an hour to enjoy the area & complete the labs.
