Willson's Woods

Willson's Woods, on the Mount Vernon side of the Mt Vernon/Pelham border along the Hutchinson River Parkway, is one of Westchester's oldest county parks (locals often accidentally leave out the 2nd "L" in the name). It was acquired in 1924 from Charles Willson of the Willson and Adams Lumber company. It has a wave pool (waves are created to simulate being at the beach), a fishing area, short nature trails and a picnic/playground area. There is also a pavilion that can be rented for parties and other gatherings. The historic bathhouse still exists alongside the pool, both of which opened in 1928. Parking is free and all of the park except for the pool (which you won't need to enter to do the Adventure Lab) is open to all. The pool does have a fee and requires a park pass or proof of Westchester residency to enter. Parking can be hard to find on summer weekends when the wave pool is in full swing. Enjoy and explore!
