Welcome to the University of Leeds!
In recent years, the University has striven to embed sustainability in its core values and part of this effort has been focussed on boosting biodiversity in campus. Despites its urban location the campus includes 4.5 kilometres of hedgerows, over 5 hectares of grassland, and nearly 1500 trees. It is also home to a variety of wildlife, including hedgehogs, rabbits, squirrels, ducks, bats, herons and even peregrine falcons!
This Adventure will take you to five locations across campus where you can learn more about some of the initiatives that the University is taking to become exemplars of urban biodiversity. I have developed it in collaboration with staff at the Sustainability service, who provided expert information and insight. I hope you enjoy it!
