Hometown Dillsburg: A Walk Down Baltimore Street

Dillsburg is Mrs. E4's hometown. Founded in 1800, it was named after first settler Matthew Dill, not for pickles, but the town has certainly adopted that mascot in many ways! This adventure will take you to four locations along the town's main street - Baltimore Street - less than 3/4 mile walk each way. You can drive, but why not walk? Mrs. E4's parents made this trek for over 40 years - sometimes twice daily. Start at either end; in Dillsburg, you're always walking "down" Baltimore Street because you're either traveling south or you're traveling downhill! Easy parking is available at the coordinates, or you can park most anywhere along Baltimore Street. All 5 locations are scenic/historic, and Mrs. E4 has added some personal recollections as well. If you're interested in more Dillsburg history, visit the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS) displays in the Maple Shade Barn at 35 Greenbriar Lane. Sorry, no bonus cache…we live too far away for maintenance.
