Rhos-on-sea (Eng) / Llandrillo yn Rhos (Cym) is named after Celtic monk Saint Trillo who built his monastic 'cell' (devotional space) here in the 6th century. The enclosure around this cell used for self-sufficiency is called a Llan.
Rhos means 'marsh' as the original area was very marshy, so Llandrillo yn Rhos means 'St Trillo's enclosure by the marsh'.
There are some interesting quirky things in Rhos that most people might not even know are there, and i'll bring you to some of those.
I love Rhos with all my heart, it's my spiritual home, and where my family has had a presence for more than 75 years. I might have been born in England, but Y Ddraig Goch (The Welsh Dragon) runs through my blood.
