In the early 1900's as a consequence of the dock development, and of nearby post-Second World War large scale industrial developments Immingham developed from a minor place into a significant town. The Port of Immingham & Grimsby was the largest port in the United Kingdom by tonnage with 54 million tonnes of cargo passing through in 2019.
It was from the shores of Immingham that the Pilgrims fled England in 1608 to start a new life in Holland.
Immingham in Bloom was started in late 2009 as an initiative of the Town Council. It has since won a gold award for its port-themed floral display. You can see many ornamental features and statues around the town.
