New York is justifiably proud of its many landmark contributions to jurisprudence as well as to the judiciary over the years. This AL will focus on five New Yorkers who reached the pinnacle of their profession, as a justice on the United States Supreme Court. Not that long ago, New York City could lay claim to four sitting justices from four of its boroughs: Antonin Scalia from Elmhurst, Queens; Ruth Bader Ginsburg from Flatbush, Brooklyn; Elena Kagan from Manhattan; and Sonia Sotomayor from the Bronx.
