Welcome to Aylesbury Cemetery.
Up until the mid-Victorian period all burials in Aylesbury were carried out at St Mary's churchyard in the centre of town. However due to the growth in population space was at a premium and there was no longer anywhere at St Mary's to bury people. A committee was formed to locate and purchase land for a new cemetery, and in 1855 a plot was purchased on what was, at the time, the outskirts of the town.
This adventure takes you on a short tour of the older section of the cemetery. The caches can be done in any order. The cemetery has been vastly expanded since 1855 and is still actively used as a burial ground to this day. Please feel free to explore the whole cemetery, but please be respectful of other visitors.
Please note that the cemetery only opens during daylight hours. A small amount of parking is available at the Tring Road entrance to the cemetery.
