"Y" You Should Visit Zanesville

Welcome to historic Zanesville, Ohio! Zanesville was named after Ebenezer Zane who had blazed Zane's Trace, a pioneer trail from Wheeling, Virginia, to Maysville, Kentucky through present-day Ohio. Once the capital of the state of Ohio, Zanesville has a very rich history, an abundance of architecture, and much more. Zanesville is currently the county seat for Muskingum County and the village is located at the junction of the Licking River and Muskingum River which initially allowed it to become an important commercial center in the region with a number of skilled craftsmen and shops. Later, in the second half of the nineteenth century, art pottery manufacturing became the most important industry. This Adventure Lab will have you cruising through town visiting the magnificent courthouse, the one-of-a-kind Y Bridge, a vintage railroad depot, a unique military memorial, and the Old Stone Academy. Be sure to read the historical markers both on this tour and along the way as the history is plentiful!
