Kensico Cemetery

Kensico Cemetery was founded in 1889 when many New York City cemeteries were becoming full and rural cemeteries were being created near the railroads that served the city. Created initially from 250 acres of rolling farmland, the cemetery road frontage is about one mile long. Claiming then to be the largest cemetery in the world, another 350 acres was added in 1905 to make a 600-acre cemetery. With winding lanes through the cemetery, it has a park-like appearance with hundreds of beautiful upright statues, monuments, ponds, shade trees, and benches for resting. Many notable people are buried here. This Adventure will take you on a tour of five notable gravesites. If you are interested, a self-guided tour is available online. The locations are to be done in order and coordinates for a Bonus Cache will be given after the last location is completed. It is recommended that you enter the cemetery at the main entrance, located at N41 04.251, W073 47.351, but there are also other entrances you can use.
